Under 18 and want to climb with a load of other keen young climbers? The 2019 BMC Youth Climbing Series will give you the opportunity to do just that! This incredibly popular annual competition series is open to young people nationwide so whether you’re new to climbing, or already have some experience, this could be just the competition for you.
There is a new format for 2019 with four rounds; two roped and two boulder. Each round consists of seven separate events taking place simultaneously across seven different regions in England and Wales. The series will culminate in a two day Grand Final where the top three competitors in each category from each of the seven regions, and from Scotland and Ireland, take part.
To be eligible for the Grand Final it is necessary to take part in a minimum of 3 rounds in the region that you live.
London & SE (North).
Each round starts at 0930 with registration and climbing starts at around 1000, with each round normally concluding by approx. 1600 – this is totally dependent on the number of entrants in each round and the size of the venue.
Each roped round comprises of 5 routes per category. Each boulder round comprises of 10 blocs per category. In categories A, B and C routes are led. In categories D and E they are top-roped.
There are five categories, with separate girls and boys competitions, that follow the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing) system based on year of birth. The categories are called Youth A, B, C, D and E and for 2019 these are…

Online entry is mandatory and the deadline for entries is 10 days before the start of each round. Please note that entries submitted after that, and entries on the day, will not be accepted.
